Unresolved pain can lead to torment and pain when secrets and shame are dwelling in an individual. Research has proven a relationship between external experience and the ability for an individual to reach personal and professional goals. As an educator, I have found a consistent denominator of unresolved conflict as a reason for discontentment and challenge with reaching personal goals. Many times the student is unaware as to how their self-mechanisms correlate with a negative self-portrayal that they have of themselves. As an educator I have found that succinct narratives have offered students an anonymous focal point for reflecting on their own self-awareness. In this excerpt of Sidonia, I hope you will find the redeeming aspect of voice that this young girl finds as an escape from domestic abuse in the home.
