A Heart After God

….The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not. (1 Samuel 13:14)

It is very interesting that no one expected David to be the one chosen by God not even his own father, Jesse. David, was the last and eighth son of Jesse, who tended the sheep in the field. God sent the Prophet Samuel to Jesse’s house to anoint the next King of Judah. Even the prophet Samuel thought that it would be one of the seven brothers that were ahead of David, but God let him know that they were not the one.

Jesse was asked by the prophet if he had another son. You notice that Jesse, didn’t even call in David, to see the prophet because he believed that he couldn’t possibly be the one chosen by God. Jesse described his own child, David as the runt. A runt is someone who is smaller or at a disadvantage because of their size. David may have been small but he had a big heart for GOD. ¬†Soon as the prophet saw David, God gave him the word to anoint David as the future King of Judah.

Maybe you can identify with David and being called the runt of the family. But you must understand that even if your family does not believe in you that GOD know the plans that He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11). You might not be working at the high-end job or doing the amazing things your siblings are doing but know that GOD is working everything out for your good (Romans 8:28). Be content where you are because that is training ground for your future assignment.

Your appointed time or set time is in the hand’s of GOD. God knows the exact date, time, month, and year that you will be catapulted in your divine destiny. In the meantime, you must keep your heart posture before GOD in prayer, praise, worship, the word, and fasting. There are so many distractions in this world so keep your mind not on earthly things but on God.

The greatest weapon that you have is intimacy with GOD, the Father! It is in this divine secret place that God will reveal to you, His heart. You will call unto Him, and He will answer you, and show you great and mighty things you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). The Father desires relationship with His children and the more you grow closer to Him the more He will reveal Himself to you.

In this hour God is looking for those who have a heart after Him and not the things of this world. The things of this world which we see are temporary but God is Eternal who we can not see (2 Corinthians 4:18). God is raising up a pure and holy army that have a heart where light dwells. If you are in a season of being hidden then God is still circumcising your heart. God is saying TRUST THE PROCESS. Your time is near!

The State of The Mind

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, just as your soul prosper. (3 John 1:2)

The Holy Spirit placed this scripture in my spirit and He began to speak to me concerning the health or state (condition) of the mind. We often talk about our physical bodies and keeping it fit but we rarely talk about our mental health. There are many walking around with mental wars going on in their heads that no one can see or notice.

God desires for us to prosper in our minds and therefore we must take time daily to feed our mind with things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtue and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). We must guard what we allow to enter our minds and keep the garbage (negative tv, worldly music, lies, gossip, porn) where it belongs in the trash.

What kind of mind does God require? The answer is in 1 Corinthians 2:16. We are are to have the mind Christ. How can we have the mind of Christ? Submission is the key. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to submit ourselves to Christ daily by studying God’s word, praying, worshiping, and occasional fasting.

We are to have the mind of Christ.

We are to set our minds on things above and not on the things that are on this Earth (Colossians 3:2). Set means to stay in position and the mind is to be placed in Christ Jesus. The mind is not suppose to deviate from the knowledge of GOD because it is then that earthly desires enter in that cause a falling away from God’s original intent.

God’s plan for our lives is to live in peace, the peace that comes from Him that surpasses all understanding, which will guard our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7). The mind state of being should be in peace and not mental anguish. The mental anguish has caused many to be imprisoned in their own minds or held captive to their circumstances.

Focus is so powerful but it can be detrimental when it is not directed towards God. So many are worried, doubtful, full of fear, stressful and filled with anxiety because their focus is on things that are temporary or things that are seen. When we shift our focus then we will begin to shift our minds. What we focus on gives power to our lives!

What we focus on gives power to our lives!

It is time for us to give our minds a break once and for all! We need to exercise our minds with the written word of GOD so that it brings us closer to the living word (Jesus Christ). We are not alone in this world and there is help. The Holy Spirit will lead you to the right connections and places so that you can get the necessary treatment for your mind!
