The State of The Mind

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, just as your soul prosper. (3 John 1:2)

The Holy Spirit placed this scripture in my spirit and He began to speak to me concerning the health or state (condition) of the mind. We often talk about our physical bodies and keeping it fit but we rarely talk about our mental health. There are many walking around with mental wars going on in their heads that no one can see or notice.

God desires for us to prosper in our minds and therefore we must take time daily to feed our mind with things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtue and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). We must guard what we allow to enter our minds and keep the garbage (negative tv, worldly music, lies, gossip, porn) where it belongs in the trash.

What kind of mind does God require? The answer is in 1 Corinthians 2:16. We are are to have the mind Christ. How can we have the mind of Christ? Submission is the key. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to submit ourselves to Christ daily by studying God’s word, praying, worshiping, and occasional fasting.

We are to have the mind of Christ.

We are to set our minds on things above and not on the things that are on this Earth (Colossians 3:2). Set means to stay in position and the mind is to be placed in Christ Jesus. The mind is not suppose to deviate from the knowledge of GOD because it is then that earthly desires enter in that cause a falling away from God’s original intent.

God’s plan for our lives is to live in peace, the peace that comes from Him that surpasses all understanding, which will guard our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7). The mind state of being should be in peace and not mental anguish. The mental anguish has caused many to be imprisoned in their own minds or held captive to their circumstances.

Focus is so powerful but it can be detrimental when it is not directed towards God. So many are worried, doubtful, full of fear, stressful and filled with anxiety because their focus is on things that are temporary or things that are seen. When we shift our focus then we will begin to shift our minds. What we focus on gives power to our lives!

What we focus on gives power to our lives!

It is time for us to give our minds a break once and for all! We need to exercise our minds with the written word of GOD so that it brings us closer to the living word (Jesus Christ). We are not alone in this world and there is help. The Holy Spirit will lead you to the right connections and places so that you can get the necessary treatment for your mind!

In the Meantime

There has been a social media frenzy on “getting married”, “finding the one”, “waiting for the one”, and so forth. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but the problem is that it can cause women and men to idolize “being married” if they are not careful.

Yes, God is putting together kingdom marriages for His designated purposes. There is a time and season for everything. We must understand when it is our season and that comes by deep intimacy with Jesus Christ.

The world puts much focus on the preparation of a wedding, but there is less preparation on becoming a wife or husband. We will spend thousands of dollars for one day but will not invest in having our hearts circumcised by the Holy Spirit. And we wonder why divorce is steadily arising.

During our time of singleness, is a time to align our lives with The True Vine. Our focus should be on becoming one with Christ and not a man or woman. God knows the desire of our hearts because He has placed them there, but we must desire Jesus above all else.

While others are finding their joy in something that is temporary,  we must find our joy in the Eternal GOD. Our joy is complete in Him and in Him alone. God is our Father and He created us to worship Him. Worship is a lifestyle and it brings us into the fullness of the Creator.

In a world where control is the new best friend, we must submit ourselves to God daily. It is through submission that we learn the divine order of marriage and the intended purposes of covenant.  We also learn humility and being selfless as we submit to Christ. As we reflect Christ, our future marriage will as well.

There is order in the Kingdom of God and we as followers of Jesus Christ must adhere to His word if we want good success. Marriages, today are failing because they are out of order. We must not allow ourselves to get caught up in the hype and keep our minds fixed upon the Lord. In the meantime, enjoy being captivated by God’s love!
